Beauty Asylum Travels to Italy for a Destination Wedding
Owner and artist Jessica Kendall packed up her wedding hair and makeup kit for her third European wedding, this time traveling to the stunning countryside of Chianciano Terme, Italy. With a large bridal party, additional hairstylists and makeup artists from the Beauty Asylum team joined to ensure every detail was perfect. Jessica rented a villa just 15 minutes from the breathtaking wedding venue, La Foce, where the celebration took place. The team extended their stay to soak in the beauty of Italian culture.
"We also wanted to arrive early to prepare for any unforeseen travel issues," Jessica shared.
The Bridal Preview & Trial
Jessica first worked with bride Katie for a bridal preview in November 2020 in Atlanta, GA. Though based in Charlotte, NC, Jessica frequently travels to Atlanta, making it convenient to schedule the trial during the holiday season. The session took place at the bride’s family home in Buckhead, where they were also hosting an engagement dinner that evening.
Katie initially opted for traditional makeup, allowing her to see how it would wear throughout the night. After the trial, she provided feedback, noting that the traditional makeup began to shine quickly. With Jessica’s expertise in airbrush makeup, Katie decided to switch to airbrush for a longer-lasting, flawless finish.
Postponements & Adjustments Due to COVID
Just months after the trial, the pandemic escalated, forcing Katie and her fiancé to postpone their destination wedding in Italy not once but twice. With uncertainty surrounding travel and guest safety, they made the difficult decision to push their wedding date to August 25, 2021, ensuring all loved ones could attend safely.
In the meantime, the couple hosted a stateside ceremony, where Beauty Asylum provided hair and makeup services. Katie officially made the switch to airbrush makeup for the event—and she loved the results!
The Big Day in Italy
Fast forward a year later, and the Beauty Asylum team embarked on a 10-hour flight to Italy to glam Katie and her bridal party for the welcome dinner, rehearsal, and wedding day. Katie curated a series of chic looks to complement her timeless style, each executed to perfection by the team.
It was truly an unforgettable experience, blending beauty, travel, and love in one of the most breathtaking destinations.
